KLC Update on KLS Office

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) wishes to announce that the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) Ratitsénhaienhs has approved further steps to strengthen the separation between the MCK Ratitsénhaienhs and the legislative branch, ensuring an arm’s-length relationship. Through MCED #7/2026-2027, the office that supports the KLC - Kahnawà:ke Legislative Services (KLS) - will transition from the Office of the Council of Chiefs (OCC) to the MCK Executive Office for administrative supervision.

This transition forms part of the broader structural realignment of the legislative branch. Under this arrangement, the KLC will provide operational oversight of the KLS office, while the Executive Office will provide the appropriate administrative supervision.
