Kahnawą:ke Residency Law 30-Day Feedback Period concluded, first hearing taking place Wednesday

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Commission (KLC) wishes to advise the community that the 30-Day Feedback Period for the Kahnawą:ke Residency Law concluded on May 10, 2026. No feedback was received.

The first hearing for the Kahnawą:ke Residency Law is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Legion Hall Upstairs from 5pm to 8pm. If the review of the proposed amendments is not completed, a future meeting date will be scheduled during the meeting.

The proposed draft amendments to the law are available for viewing, please click here to view. Interested community members on the Kanien’kehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke Registry should pre-register their attendance by contacting Samantha Montour of OKKR at 450-638-0500 or by email at samantha.montour@mck.ca. If there are not at least 10 pre-registrants, the first hearing will be rescheduled. Walk-ins are welcome.

A meal will be provided for those who pre-register.
