First Hearing scheduled for Kahnawą:ke Residency Law

The Kahnawą:ke Legislative Commission wishes to inform the community that the First Hearing for the Kahnawą:ke Residency Law is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Legion Hall Upstairs from 5pm to 8pm. If the review of the proposed amendments is not completed, a future meeting date will be scheduled during the meeting.

The amended draft law is available for viewing, as it is still in the 30-day review period, which ends May 10, 2026. The proposed amendments appear in track changes. Please click here to view.

Interested community members on the Kanien’kehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke Registry should pre-register their attendance by contacting Samantha Montour of the Office of the Kanien’kehį:ka of Kahnawą:ke Registry (OKKR) by 4pm on Monday, May 11, 2026, at (450) 638-0500 or by email at samantha.montour@mck.ca.

A meal will be provided for those who pre-register.
